We get so many questions about different hair styles, trends, and, especially, about hair coloring.
So, we thought we would share a few of the most popular questions we get from our clients when it comes to coloring your hair. Should I Color my hair myself? At some point, every lady is going to feel a bit bored with their natural hair color. Depending on the season, you might want to go lighter or darker, likely only a shade or two. Perhaps even add some face-framing highlights or, if you are bit older, or are just lucky enough as a younger lady in your late-20’s, work to cover up some of the sneaky gray hair trying to find a way out. Of course you can take this project on yourself. Many ladies do, and, unfortunately, a tad unsuccessfully. We are typically the next phone call when the coloring doesn’t blend as planned or if the color does not appear as they expected it to. We recommend leaving all hair coloring work to a professional, especially one that is designated as a premier Aveda hair salon. That being said, there are always situations where DIY people can get away with coloring their own hair: if you are going for a single process color and nothing overly dramatic. If you only want to change by a shade darker or lighter, if you are less than 50% gray and want to cover it up are great examples of those rare instances you can get away with doing it yourself. Now, highlights should be left to a professional, especially if you are doing full-head highlights. At the end of the day, doing your own hair coloring is a choice you have to make. If you feel confidence in your abilities and can follow the instructions provide, give it a go. Otherwise, if you are concerned and do not feel you are capable, obviously, schedule an appointment with a professional hair salon. Another question we get often is if a client should get highlights or all-over color. It’s a really great question. Each individual must be treated special and unique. You could easily brighten up your face if you were to add what we call face-framing highlights. Now, an all-over color look is ideal for women that want to go a few shades lighter or if they are looking to cover up the spread of gray hair. If you look, you could mix it up and do a little bit of both. Just do NOT attempt this at home, this is a special technique best left to a professional. Choices. It’s what makes doing your hair so much fun. We recommend if you are looking for a new hair salon in Albany to consider choosing the premier Aveda salon we are proud to be.
